My first week in Kauai has been busy! A lot to learn at the new job, but it's every cool stuff. We are installing a land based missile defense system working with about 5 other major subcontractors and the US Navy.
The Sheraton is awesome, but about a 45 minute drive to work. So I found a little place to live close to base and it's right across the street from the ocean! Pictures to come next week after move in...
The island isn't too large, it's fairly quiet, and very beautiful. This weekend I got a chance to see Waimea Canyon (nicknamed the Grand Canyon of the Pacific). RIDICULOUS VIEWS.
I also went to a secluded beach called Polihale. It is on the west end of the island, surrounded by cliffs, barely any people (last 5 miles are gravel road). The sunset there was amazing.
Best food so far: spicy garlic shrimp from a little hole in the wall restaurant, and a delicious fruit called rambutan.
Getting up at 7am tomorrow to watch the Eagles game at a local bar called Kalipaki Joes, hoping for a win!
More to come next week... Aloha!
